Veteran support group increases employment support services in West Central Indiana

Indianapolis-based veterans assistance organization Helping Veterans and Families of Indiana has expanded its employment services to west central Indiana in response to higher unemployment and poverty rates among veterans in that region. The organization provides temporary housing, food, and employment resources to at-risk veterans and has now launched a two-year pilot program in Terre Haute with partners Intecare and Reach Services. The program includes a full-time employment specialist to assist veterans with interview preparation, career placement, financial planning, and resume creation.

CEO Emmy Hildebrand stated that the expansion is part of a three-year strategic plan aimed at helping veterans who have served and sacrificed for the country. Last year, nearly 60 veterans obtained jobs through HVAF’s program, and the organization plans to continue expanding its resources throughout the state. Veterans in Terre Haute who are interested in accessing these services can visit HVAF’s website or call (317) 601-7342.

The decision to expand employment services to west central Indiana was based on the organization’s research indicating the need for additional support in that area. With the number of unemployed veterans on the rise, HVAF is committed to providing comprehensive assistance to those who have served their country. This initiative reflects the organization’s dedication to helping veterans find stable employment and housing in order to improve their overall well-being.
