Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana seeks to recruit additional male mentors

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Indiana (BBBSCI) is on a mission to recruit more male mentors to help the nearly 1,000 kids on their waiting list, with over half of them being young men in need of guidance. In an effort to reach out to more men, BBBSCI has partnered with 15 barbershops in Indianapolis to encourage barbers to promote mentorship opportunities to their clients. The campaign includes a competition where the barbershop that recruits the most mentors will be awarded with specialized capes to show their partnership with BBBSCI.

Deon Oliver, owner of Big Tyme Barbers, is one of the participants in this initiative and believes that every child deserves a chance to succeed and just needs the right people behind them. The campaign aims to provide these kids with positive role models who can guide them in the right direction and help them reach their full potential.

While the campaign is running throughout the month, signing up to become a mentor does not require visiting a participating barbershop. Interested individuals can visit the BBBSCI website to sign up and make a meaningful impact in the lives of children in their community. By actively engaging with men in places where they already frequent, BBBSCI hopes to make a significant difference in the lives of the kids waiting for a mentor.
