China and Russia showcase ‘significant changes in worldwide politics’ | Political News

Leaders from Russia and China made comments at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit, emphasizing the need for allies to resist external interference as global power dynamics shift towards a multipolar world. Both President Vladimir Putin and President Xi Jinping called for solidarity among member countries to maintain control over their futures and regional peace. The group issued a joint declaration highlighting the changing global political landscape and the importance of the SCO in enhancing global and regional security.

Putin and Xi both condemned what they view as US dominance in global affairs and expressed support for a more just world order. The SCO, which now includes ten member states including Western-sanctioned Iran, serves as a platform for cooperation in security and economics, particularly in Central Asia. The organization represents a significant portion of the global population and GDP.

Despite internal disagreements, including territorial disputes, the SCO is gaining prominence as major powers like Russia and China vie for influence in Central Asia. The region is strategically important due to its natural resources and transportation routes connecting Asia and Europe. The final declaration of the summit also criticized the unilateral buildup of missile defense systems by certain countries and regional alliances, a common complaint of both Moscow and Beijing directed at the United States. The SCO’s continued growth and influence reflect the evolving dynamics of global power and the desire for a more balanced and fair international order.
