Former Indianapolis Colts player Daniel Muir was arrested after allegedly beating his 14-year-old son over allegations of inappropriate contact with other children. Muir reportedly admitted to beating his son and expressed that in their religious country, the son would have been put to death for his actions. Muir and his wife were charged with domestic battery and obstruction of justice. The couple’s son had been the subject of a Silver Alert but was found safe after a raid on their Logansport home by state police.
The Muir family was connected to a religious organization called Straitway Truth Ministry which has been described as “scary” and “cult-like” by neighbors. The organization is known for its controversial beliefs and practices. The Muirs’ other children were taken into custody by Child Services who also found evidence of potential discipline issues within the family.
The head pastor of Straitway Truth Ministries addressed the arrests in a video response, stating that the church will not back down from the allegations. The case has raised concerns about domestic violence and child abuse within the community. The Muirs are scheduled for a bond hearing on July 16th.
Neighbors have expressed fear and shock over the developments and have described the Muirs’ property and organization as concerning. Resources are available for victims of domestic violence through the Domestic Violence Network website.
