Gas prices expected to increase after holiday weekend

Gas prices in Indiana have seen a significant drop of 18 cents per gallon in just one week, thanks to a price war between Indianapolis gas stations. The average price for a gallon of gas in Indianapolis is currently $3.49, slightly below the national average. Some gas stations are even advertising fuel for as low as $3.29 per gallon. However, for some residents like Brandon Mabe, these prices are still not cheap enough to make travel plans, such as visiting family in Ohio. Despite the lower prices, Patrick De Haan from Gas Buddy warns that prices could rise again in the near future.

With the Fourth of July weekend approaching, Triple A predicts that 70.9 million people will be traveling more than 50 miles by car, a 5% increase from last year. Despite the increase in travel, De Haan believes that gas prices may not be the biggest factor influencing travel decisions, as Americans are more concerned about inflation and other expenses associated with road trips. Gas prices in Kentucky are currently cheaper than in Indiana, with an average of $3.37 per gallon.

Overall, while the drop in gas prices is providing some relief for consumers, there is still uncertainty about how long these lower prices will last. As the holiday weekend approaches, many Americans are eager to hit the road and visit loved ones, despite the fluctuations in gas prices.
