Two Indiana native baseball players, Max Clark and Colson Montgomery, have been selected to play in this year’s MLB All-Star Futures Game. The game is set to take place on July 14 at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. Clark, a Franklin native drafted third overall by the Detroit Tigers in 2023, leads the Florida State League in RBI and home runs this season. Montgomery, from Holland, was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the first round of the 2021 draft and is currently playing in Triple-A.
Clark is ranked as the No. 10 overall prospect in the minor leagues by MLB.com. He is described as an athletic outfielder with great speed and arm strength. At the plate, he has shown selectivity and the ability to hit to all fields. While he may need some time to adjust to higher velocity pitching, his approach and physical tools are considered advanced.
Both players will have the opportunity to showcase their talent on a national stage during the Futures Game. Indiana fans will have the chance to cheer on two local athletes as they compete against other top prospects from around the league. It is a testament to the talent that comes from the Hoosier state and a moment of pride for Indiana baseball fans.
