A new technology hub called The Lab is set to open to the public in Marin City, offering a space for technology exploration for all ages. Located on the campus of Saint Andrew Presbyterian Church, The Lab will feature a maker space, coding stations, and gaming stations. It is the second tech and innovation hub opened by the Marin County Free Library, following The Shop in Novato.
The Lab will provide activities such as 3-D printing, podcast creation, and more to inspire creativity and collaboration. Funding for the technology equipment has come from various sources, including the Friends of Marin City Library and the Bay Area Discovery Museum. The Lab will be staffed by library personnel during open hours and will also bring in partners for programming.
Lana Adwalan, director of the Marin County Free Library, encourages patrons of all ages to explore and play at their local library and hopes The Lab will provide a supportive and inspiring environment for individuals to learn new skills and explore their passions. The Lab will be open on select days each week for drop-in visits, with a capacity for about five people at a time.
More information about The Lab and The Shop, the first tech hub opened by the Marin County Free Library, can be found online. The Lab is expected to open on July 9, and members of the community can look forward to engaging in various technological activities at this new space.
