A shot was fired at officers of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department on the near east side on Thursday afternoon. The incident occurred while officers were searching for a suspect wanted on a warrant in a separate investigation near the 5100 block of East 20th Place. The suspect fled on foot, prompting a foot pursuit during which at least one shot was fired at officers. Thankfully, no officers were injured and they did not return fire.
The suspect is described as a 5 feet 5 inches tall Black male, around 180 pounds, wearing a black tank top, blue jean shorts, and shoulder-length dreads. Investigators have urged residents to avoid the area for the time being as officers will maintain a heavy police presence in the vicinity.
