Indianapolis activist, Ron Gee, was found murdered in his blue SUV at a gas station on Thursday. Gee, known for his anti-gun violence advocacy, will be honored at a vigil on Saturday at New Direction Church. Friends and collaborators of Gee, like Robert Booker, express their commitment to continue his work. Gee’s nonprofit, Cease Fire Indy, aimed to reduce shootings in the city, with one call for a 72-hour cease-fire. Kenneth E. Sullivan, a pastor at New Direction Church, remembers Gee’s efforts and plans to carry on his legacy. The vigil will include a balloon release and prayers for Gee’s family and children. Funeral arrangements will be made for next week. Gee’s death serves as a tragic reminder of the ongoing issue of gun violence in Indianapolis, but his friends and supporters are determined to keep his vision alive.
