The Indiana sports betting industry saw a significant increase in basketball wagers in June, with a 38% year-over-year rise in bets. The Indiana Fever and their No. 1 draft pick, Caitlin Clark, were credited with driving this increase in basketball betting. Clark’s impact on the sports scene in Indiana has been significant, with a 380% jump in betting on Fever games compared to the baseline. Overall, the Hoosier State generated $33.3 million in basketball bets for the month of June.

The Indiana Gaming Commission’s June report revealed that the state generated a total adjusted gross revenue of $30.5 million, a 57% increase from the same month in 2023, with a handle of $298.2 million. The online sportsbooks accounted for over $290 million of the handle in June, with DraftKings leading the way with a handle of $113.1 million.

In addition to basketball, baseball also saw a significant amount of betting action in June, with a total handle of $83.5 million. Parlay bets were down from the previous month, but football still generated nearly $2.7 million in bets.

Overall, the first six months of 2024 have been successful for Indiana sports betting operators, with $2.4 billion in total wagers and a 25% increase in revenue compared to the same period in 2023. The industry has contributed significantly to state tax revenue, with over $22.5 million generated so far in 2024.
