Hamilton County wrestlers excel at Junior Nationals representing Indiana


Hamilton County wrestlers represented Indiana at the USMC/USA Wrestling 16U and Junior Nationals in Fargo, N.D. Kendall Moe of Hamilton Heights finished fourth in the Junior Women Freestyle division, earning her third All-American status. Fishers’ Xavier Smith also placed fifth in the 16U Men’s Freestyle division.

In addition to Moe and Smith, other Hamilton County wrestlers also competed. Noblesville’s Kyra Tomlinson wrestled in the Junior Women’s 130-pound division, while Hamilton Southeastern’s Fanta Sall competed in the 16U Women’s 235-pound class. Five county boys were also among the wrestlers in the 16U Men’s division.

Top performer Moe advanced to the quarterfinals before finishing fourth, while Smith made it to the semifinals before placing fifth. Other wrestlers had varying degrees of success, with some reaching the Round of 16 in their respective weight classes.

After the Freestyle portion of the tournament, five county wrestlers continued to compete in the Greco-Roman segment. Results from that event will be published in the future.

Overall, Hamilton County wrestlers showcased their skills and determination at the national level, representing their schools and the state of Indiana with pride. Their performances at the USMC/USA Wrestling Nationals highlight the talent and dedication of the wrestling community in the county.
