The Israeli army launched airstrikes on Houthi targets in western Yemen in response to a deadly drone attack by the rebel group in Tel Aviv. The strikes were the first on Yemeni soil since the conflict between Israel and Hamas began in October. Hamas condemned the airstrikes as a “massacre and a dangerous escalation.” The Houthis had claimed responsibility for the drone strike near a U.S. Embassy branch office in Tel Aviv that killed one person and injured several others. The IDF confirmed the death of a civilian and injuries to at least 10 others in the drone attack. The Houthis vowed to continue supporting Gaza despite the Israeli attacks and threatened to launch further strikes in response.
