Nashville residents unite in Jewish solidarity following neo-Nazi presence in city

Residents of Nashville are standing in solidarity with the Jewish community in the face of harassment from neo-Nazi and white supremacist groups spreading antisemitic hate in the city. The Jewish Federation of Greater Nashville organized a gathering at Bicentennial Park to promote peace and unity in response to the spreading of anti-Jewish flyers and disruptive actions by these hate groups.

The disruptions began with groups like Patriot Front and the Goyim Defense League marching down Nashville’s Broadway and causing disruptions in and around the city. Law enforcement officials and local leaders urged residents not to engage with these groups, but the Jewish Federation received feedback from the community stating that they felt “under siege.”

In response, the federation organized the Nashville Together event to provide a positive message and push back against the hateful rhetoric being spread by these groups. The event drew hundreds of people, including Mayor Freddie O’Connell and representatives from various faith communities in Nashville.

Police Chief John Drake sent a letter to community leaders urging them not to engage with the hate groups, as they are seeking confrontation and looking to incite violence. The Jewish Federation expressed concern that more hate groups may come to Nashville in the future and emphasized the need for careful rhetoric to build a community that is inclusive and respectful.

Overall, the solidarity event in Nashville demonstrated the community’s commitment to standing against hate and fostering a culture of peace and unity.
