The Latinas Welding Guild in Indianapolis is currently in the process of building a 66-foot tall replica of the Eiffel Tower to be placed near the Indiana Convention Center. The tower will be illuminated at night, like the original in Paris. The guild is searching for a couple interested in getting married beneath the replica tower in June. The project has been in the works since last year, with the Latinas Welding Guild working on construction. Consuelo Lockhart, the founder and executive director of the guild, expressed excitement about the involvement of the community in the project. The tower is intended to serve as a landmark in Indianapolis, providing a backdrop for photos and being accessible to pedestrians and cyclists.
Lockhart shared that the goal is for the replica Eiffel Tower to become a significant attraction for visitors to the city. The project aims to highlight the diverse skills and talents of members of the Latinas Welding Guild. With the replica Eiffel Tower expected to be completed in time for the U.S. Swimming Olympic Trials in June, it will serve as a unique addition to the city’s landscape.
