The Detroit rally highlighted Harris’s focus on vital swing states, with a large crowd chanting “We’re not going back” in opposition to Trump’s policies. The rallies did face interruptions from protesters, with Harris addressing them by emphasizing the importance of democracy and the need for unity within the party. Medical incidents also occurred due to the packed crowds, prompting speakers to remind attendees to stay hydrated and take care of each other.
Walz, in his speeches, emphasized his midwestern background and experience serving in the Minnesota National Guard. He spoke out against Trump, criticizing his policies and highlighting the importance of the upcoming election in determining the country’s direction. The rallies featured support from prominent figures like indie folk band Bon Iver and United Auto Workers president Shawn Fain.
Despite facing attacks from Trump labeling him part of the “radical left”, Walz remained steadfast in his commitment to progressive values and fighting for working-class Americans. The Harris-Walz campaign continues to gain momentum and support, with a record-breaking $36m raised in 24 hours following the announcement of their partnership. The Democratic ticket vows to beat Trump in November and bring about positive change for the country.
