CARMEL, Ind. – Carmel Swim Club welcomed back Alex and Aaron Shackell after their successful performances at the Paris Olympics. Alex won a gold and silver medal in two relays, while Aaron was the only American finalist in the men’s 400 meters. The siblings, who are used to swimming together, saw their Olympic experience as just another meet.
Alex, a high school senior, is adjusting to her newfound fame as a role model for young swimmers. She is grateful for the support from her community and hopes to inspire others to pursue their dreams. Aaron, on the other hand, is proud of his sister’s achievements and looks forward to continuing their training for the next summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
The Shackell siblings were honored at a ceremony in the Carmel High School cafeteria, where they shared their excitement about competing in the Olympics. Alex described it as the best month of her life, while Aaron reflected on the experience of competing against some of the best swimmers in the world.
Despite their success, the siblings remain humble and grateful for the opportunity to represent their country on the international stage. They are focused on their training and hope to qualify for future Olympic Games. As they continue to pursue their dreams, Alex and Aaron serve as a shining example of dedication and perseverance in the sport of swimming.
