Lynn Williams, a forward with the U.S. women’s national soccer team, admitted that her gold medal from the 2024 Paris Olympics was damaged during a post-game celebration. In a TikTok video, Williams jokingly shared that her medal had become the world’s “most expensive coaster” after it broke while she was dancing at a party. The medal had been around her shoulder like a purse when it fell off as she was jumping and dancing. Williams showed fans the dent in the medal, describing it as “one-of-a-kind” due to the damage. She shared that her team had contacted the International Olympic Committee to potentially repair or replace the medal. However, she also joked that the medals should have been made more sturdy to withstand post-game celebrations. Despite the mishap, Williams celebrated the team’s 1-0 victory over Brazil in the final match of the Olympics, where they had an undefeated run.
