Russia launched a second consecutive day of missile and drone attacks in Ukraine, resulting in at least five deaths. This included two people killed in a missile strike on a hotel in Kryvyi Rih and three deaths in drone attacks on Zaporizhzhia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy vowed to retaliate and called for joint air defense operations with allies. Ukraine’s air force claimed to have shot down several Russian missiles and drones but lost track of others that may have landed in their territory. The Russian Ministry of Defence stated that its forces carried out a high-precision weapons strike on Ukraine. In Kyiv, all incoming targets were intercepted by air defenses, with no casualties reported. Despite Russian denials of targeting civilians, thousands have been killed since the invasion began in February. In Kryvyi Rih, two civilians may still be trapped under the rubble of the hotel, while five others were injured. In Zaporizhzhia, three people were injured, and four more were hurt in a missile strike on Kharkiv. The situation continues to escalate, prompting concerns over further civilian casualties and damage.
