Indianapolis is set to become a major hub for sporting events in the coming years, as the Indiana Sports Corp announced that the city will host multiple Big Ten Women’s and Men’s Basketball Tournaments. The Big Ten Conference has chosen Indianapolis as the host city for four upcoming tournaments, starting with the 2025 TIAA Big Ten Women’s Basketball Tournament from March 5-9, followed by the 2025 TIAA Men’s Basketball Tournament from March 12-16. The women’s tournament and the Men’s Final Four will be held in Indianapolis in 2026, with the men’s tournament returning in 2027.
The tournaments will take place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse and will feature a 15-team field from the 18-team conference following recent additions of Oregon, UCLA, USC, and Washington. This partnership continues Indianapolis’ longstanding tradition of hosting Big Ten basketball tournaments.
The city’s president, Patrick Talty, expressed excitement about enhancing the tournament experience for participants and fans, highlighting the economic impact these events will bring to the city. The announcement follows the news that Indianapolis will host the Big Ten football championship until 2028, solidifying the city’s status as a premier location for major sporting events.
Dan Gliot from the Indiana Sports Corp emphasized the positive impact on the local economy, estimating a total economic impact of $150 million over the life of the partnership. Details regarding ticket sales for each tournament will be announced at a later date. Indianapolis residents and visitors can look forward to exciting basketball action and a boost to the city’s economy in the coming years.
