Israeli hostage saved by soldiers in southern Gaza, according to IDF | Global News

Israel’s military has successfully rescued a 52-year-old man, Qaid Farhan Alkadi, who was kidnapped by Hamas on 7 October. The IDF conducted a complex operation in southern Gaza to rescue him, and he is now in stable medical condition and undergoing further checks at a hospital. Alkadi, a member of the Bedouin community and a security guard at a packing factory in Kibbutz Magen, had been held captive for 326 days. His return home has been described as miraculous by the Hostages Families Forum, who also revealed that around 108 hostages are still believed to be held by Hamas, with a third of them presumed dead.

This successful rescue comes after the IDF recovered the bodies of six hostages in Gaza last week, amidst efforts by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar to mediate a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas. A significant number of hostages were previously released in exchange for Palestinian prisoners during a ceasefire in November.

The news of Alkadi’s rescue has been met with relief and gratitude, as his family prepares to welcome him back after almost a year in captivity. The IDF’s continued efforts to rescue hostages held by Hamas are part of the ongoing conflict between Israel and the militant group, with hopes for a peaceful resolution through diplomatic negotiations.
