Pacers Release Two Players Kyle Mangas and Cameron McGriff

The Indiana Pacers made roster moves on Monday by signing wing Dakota Mathias while waiving Kyle Mangas and Cameron McGriff to make room for him. Both Mangas and McGriff had signed Exhibit 10 deals with the Pacers, which are one-year, non-guaranteed minimum salary agreements. These deals can be converted to two-way contracts and provide players with financial bonuses if they are waived and then report to the G League affiliate for a certain period.

Mangas and McGriff had previously played for the Pacers G League affiliate, the Indiana Mad Ants. The Mad Ants already owned their G League rights, allowing the Pacers to sign and waive them to give them a financial bonus. Mathias, who also signed an Exhibit 10 deal, will fill one of the roster spots previously occupied by Mangas and McGriff. The Mad Ants do not currently own Mathias’ rights, so they will have to trade for him in order for him to play for their G League team.

The Pacers roster now stands at 20 players. Mangas averaged 16.9 points per game for the Mad Ants last season, while McGriff, who has NBA experience, averaged 7.4 points. The team made these moves to solidify their roster for the upcoming season and to potentially develop young talent in their G League affiliate.
