Johnson’s on-court performance has been limited, with an average of 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game over the last two seasons. However, his off-court contributions, such as his leadership and mentorship to younger players, have been highly praised by the team. Having previously played under coach Rick Carlisle in Dallas, Johnson’s familiarity with his coaching style and leadership qualities make him a natural fit with the Pacers.
