Former White House lawyer and Indianapolis lawyer Peter Rusthoven endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 presidential election. Rusthoven, who worked under President Ronald Reagan, stated that character is more important than policy disagreements. He criticized former President Donald Trump’s refusal to accept the 2020 election results, efforts to overturn them, and behavior that led to the Capitol riot. Rusthoven also mentioned Trump’s insulting language towards opponents and lack of consistent commitment to conservative principles. He emphasized the importance of the character, integrity, and trustworthiness of the president.
Rusthoven dismissed the option of voting for a third-party candidate, stating that Trump and Harris are the only viable choices. He hopes his endorsement of Harris, along with other former Republican administration officials, will make a difference in battleground states. Rusthoven mentioned Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin as key states where the race between Trump and Harris is tight. He expressed the importance of even a few people changing their minds due to their endorsement, indicating the potential impact on the election outcome. The interview with Rusthoven will be aired on “All INdiana Politics” on WISH-TV at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
