Taiwan’s military asserts that China is not equipped for invasion, but has other tactics available

Taiwan’s defense ministry has assessed that China does not currently have the capability to fully invade Taiwan due to lack of equipment and logistical capabilities. However, China has been ramping up military and political pressure on Taiwan over the past few years in an attempt to assert its claims over the island. China has never ruled out the use of force to bring Taiwan under its control.

Despite its limitations, China is developing new advanced weapons such as the H-20 bomber and hypersonic missiles, and increasing its number of nuclear warheads. In addition to military threats, China has also been conducting activities such as inspecting foreign cargo ships as a way to pressure Taiwan without resorting to open conflict.

Taiwan’s defense spending is set to increase in order to build more missiles, submarines, and other weapons to deter China. President Lai, who has offered talks with Beijing but has been rejected, believes in achieving peace through strength and improving Taiwan’s self-defense capabilities.

In response, China’s defense ministry has warned that as long as Taiwan’s governing party continues to push for independence, there will be no peace. Tensions between China and Taiwan remain high, with Taiwan remaining determined to protect its sovereignty and defend itself against any potential threats.
