Drought conditions worsen in Indiana as southern and eastern parts of the state are under a moderate drought, with Evansville experiencing severe drought. Indianapolis is more than an inch below normal for September rainfall, exacerbating the situation.
Tropical Depression Francine will bring cloud cover to the area later today, with showers expected on Friday, along with increased humidity. Temperatures are expected to reach the mid to upper 80s in central and north central Indiana, with clouds moving in this afternoon.
Tonight, the Indianapolis Indians game will see mostly cloudy skies and dry conditions, with temperatures in the lower 80s. Overnight, expect mild temperatures in the middle 60s.
On Friday, rain chances will increase under mostly cloudy skies, with the best chance of rain south and west of Indianapolis. Southern Indiana could see up to 2 inches of rainfall, but central and north central Indiana may miss out on much-needed precipitation.
Heading into the weekend, temperatures will remain in the middle 80s with mostly cloudy skies and a chance of showers. The extended forecast shows little rain early next week, maintaining the drought conditions. Temperatures will stay in the low 80s with higher humidity values, making the situation uncomfortable for residents.
