Wildfires in Los Angeles continue to smolder, pose ongoing threat to suburbs

The response team for the wildfires in San Bernardino is expecting progress today due to the coastal marine influence and lowering temperatures that are raising moisture levels. Justin Wayne Halstenberg has been charged with arson and great bodily injury for allegedly starting the Line Fire, which has burned 37,000 acres in the mountains. He is being held in jail and no attorney has been listed for him. The Line Fire destroyed a home, injured a firefighter and two civilians, and led to the evacuation of 5,490 homes. Two men were arrested for suspected looting. The Airport Fire southeast of Los Angeles has destroyed homes in the Elsinore Mountains and injured at least 10 people. This 23,000-acre fire is believed to have been caused by a spark from machinery moving boulders to block access to the wilderness area.
