Jurors detain man trying to flee courthouse in handcuffs after child assault conviction in Maine

Nicholas Carter, a man convicted of assault against a 14-month-old child in Maine, tried to flee the courthouse in Skowhegan while handcuffed after being found guilty. He was seen running down a hallway in the courthouse and out into a parking lot, where he eventually tripped and fell. Two jurors and a detective quickly apprehended him before he could escape. Carter’s escape attempt was captured on video and went viral. The incident took place after a three-day trial at the Somerset County Superior Courthouse.
