Summer weather is refusing to give way to fall in Indianapolis as temperatures are expected to remain near 90 degrees heading into the end of the week. Despite fall officially beginning, there is no sign of cooler temperatures in the near future. The city will continue to experience dry and sunny conditions as high pressure keeps moisture away.
Today, some clouds in eastern and central Indiana will give way to mostly sunny skies with temperatures in the upper 80s. Dry conditions are expected to persist, with humidity levels staying low and light winds. Some burn bans are in effect across the state due to dry conditions.
Tonight, clear skies will allow temperatures to drop into the mid and upper 50s in outlying areas, while the city will only cool to around 61 degrees. Thursday and Friday will continue to be dry and sunny, with temperatures close to 90 degrees.
Heading into the weekend, temperatures will remain above normal with highs in the upper 80s. Sunday may see some spotty showers in the afternoon and evening, with highs around 86 degrees. The weather pattern is expected to bring rain chances for Monday and Tuesday, with temperatures cooling to the lower 80s. Despite fall officially beginning, summer weather will still be dominant in Indianapolis for the foreseeable future.
