WISH-TV News Director, Brady Gibson, recently had the opportunity to umpire the Prep Baseball Report’s High School All-American game in Miami, Florida. Despite his busy schedule as a father of two college students and a news director, Brady finds umpiring to be his escape and passion.
The experience at LoanDepot Park, home of MLB’s Miami Marlins, was described as amazing by Brady. His son, who just started college in Florida, was able to watch the game in person, while his dad watched the live stream from their home in Kentucky. It was a special moment for the family to see Brady umpiring on a Major League Baseball field.
Brady, who got back into umpiring about six years ago, values the escape it provides from the daily news grind. He enjoys working with Grand Park and United Umpires, forming great relationships with the players and fellow umpires while working in the scorching Indiana summer heat.
As a dedicated journalist and mentor in the newsroom, Brady’s colleagues are proud of his umpiring accomplishments. They view him as more than just a boss, but also a fantastic journalist and hard worker. This experience highlights the importance of having multiple passions and interests outside of work.
Overall, Brady’s experience at the High School All-American game was a success, and his WISH-TV family celebrates his achievements both on and off the field. Brady serves as a role model for amateur baseball and exemplifies the value of pursuing one’s passions alongside a successful career.
