WNBA stars Caitlin Clark and A’ja Wilson were named the Associated Press Rookie of the Year and the league’s Player of the Year, respectively. Wilson, a player for the Las Vegas Aces, became the fourth player in WNBA history to win Player of the Year three times and was the first to score 1,000 points in a season. She also played for Team USA during the Paris Olympics, contributing to a dominant win over Japan. Wilson is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and two-time WNBA champion. Both players expressed gratitude for their awards and credited their teammates and coaches for their success. Clark, a two-time collegiate national player of the year out of Iowa, has received unprecedented attention in the women’s basketball world. Wilson, a South Carolina native, was the unanimous choice for the Player of the Year award, acknowledging the hard work and preparation she put into the season.
