The Australian-based Ripper team claimed its first team title in the LIV Golf League in Carrollton, Texas. Cameron Smith and Lucas Herbert shined with clutch performances, including key putts and birdies late in the final round. Smith’s 60-yard pitch to 12 feet and subsequent birdie putt on the 17th hole secured the win for Ripper, finishing at 11-under 277. Matt Jones and Marc Leishman also contributed to the team’s success. Aces and Iron Heads finished three shots behind in a tight competition.
4Aces, led by Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed, had a shot until Reed missed a crucial birdie putt on the 18th hole. Iron Heads, a surprise contender after finishing last in the regular season, knocked out top teams led by Brooks Koepka and Bryson DeChambeau. Legion XIII, missing Jon Rahm due to flu, struggled in their first year.
Ripper’s victory earned the team $14 million, with each player taking home $1.4 million. This win marked a significant milestone for the Australian team and solidified their place in the competitive LIV Golf League.
