A suspect has been taken into custody after an improvised explosive device went off at a California courthouse in Santa Maria, causing several injuries. The explosion was intentionally set, according to the sheriff’s spokesperson. Two people sustained non-life-threatening injuries, while six patients were taken to Marian Regional Medical Center for treatment. The condition of the patients ranged from fair to good. Deputies cordoned off the courthouse neighborhood and focused on a parked car linked to the suspect. Residents were advised to avoid the area as it was deemed unsafe.
