WISH-TV Celebrates Exceptional Teacher with Golden Apple Award
Indianapolis – WISH-TV is honoring exceptional teachers in central Indiana with the Golden Apple Award, which includes a $2,000 cash prize from Western Governor’s University, a trophy, a school supply shopping spree at Teachers’ Treasures, and a surprise visit from the News 8 team with help from WGU Indiana.
The September winner of the Golden Apple Award is Miss Sydni Jennings, a Spanish teacher at Lawrence North High School who has touched the lives of her students in remarkable ways. Known for her dedication to her students, she sponsors the Spanish Honor Society, leads GEMS (Girls in Engineering, Science, and Math), and recently wrote a book on daily devotions.
Students and colleagues alike praise Jennings for her caring nature and commitment to their success. Nominees describe her as a mentor, friend, and inspiration, attributing their personal growth and academic achievements to her unwavering support and guidance.
Jennings, who was brought to tears upon learning of her nomination for the award, credits her relationship with God and the support of her colleagues for keeping her motivated in her profession. She hopes her story inspires other educators to continue giving love and compassion to their students, emphasizing the importance of caring for others no matter the language spoken.
To watch the surprise presentation of the Golden Apple Award to Miss Jennings, visit the WISH-TV website. To nominate a deserving teacher for next month’s award, submit a detailed nomination online.
