Jordi Zonneveld, a former oil and gas industry worker, made a drastic career change to lead his company, Frames Group, towards green hydrogen production in response to the global push for reduced greenhouse gas emissions. Zonneveld’s vision and determination saw him through, as he managed to increase clean hydrogen production to 10% of the company’s business over five years. This caught the attention of clean energy company Plug Power, which acquired Frames Group in 2021, recognizing Zonneveld’s forward-thinking leadership.
Now under Plug Power, Zonneveld continues to drive the production of green hydrogen globally, with a goal of 1,000 tons per day by the end of the decade. The company has secured major customers like Amazon and is poised to benefit from the Biden administration’s financial support for clean hydrogen projects. Plug Power has already opened a clean hydrogen plant in Georgia and manufactures essential equipment in New York.
Zonneveld’s dedication to creating a sustainable future for his three daughters is evident in his personal life as well, as he educates them on the importance of moving away from fossil fuels. He even drives a hydrogen car to demonstrate the benefits of clean energy. As a “dreamer” leading the charge towards a greener future, Zonneveld is setting an example for his children and inspiring change in the industry.
