President-elect Donald Trump has chosen former congressman and Fox Business host Sean Duffy as his pick for transportation secretary in the next administration. Duffy is the second Fox host Trump has selected for a Cabinet post, following Pete Hegseth for the Defense Department. Trump described Duffy as a respected public servant who will focus on fiscal responsibility, economic growth, and rural development. Duffy’s experience in Congress will be used to maintain and rebuild the nation’s infrastructure and improve the travel experience for all Americans.
Trump also mentioned that Duffy will make skies safer by eliminating diversity, equity, and inclusion programs for pilots and air traffic controllers. The post requires Senate confirmation and oversees roughly 58,000 workers in the Transportation Department. Fox News praised Duffy for his work co-hosting “The Bottom Line” and confirmed his departure from the network.
Duffy, who served in the House from 2011 to 2019, was a member of the Financial Services Committee and chairman of an oversight and investigations subcommittee. He left Congress in 2019 after learning that his child would be born with a heart condition. Prior to his time in Congress, Duffy was a special prosecutor and district attorney in Wisconsin. He first gained fame on MTV’s “The Real World: Boston” in 1997 and is married to fellow reality TV star Rachel Campos-Duffy.
