Excitement Builds for High School Football Semi-State Matches in Central Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — As the high school football season approaches its climax, central Indiana teams are gearing up for the semi-state round this Friday night, where six exciting matchups could lead to a coveted trip to Lucas Oil Stadium for the IHSAA State Championship.

The highlight of the night includes Class 6A battles with Crown Point, the last undefeated team in the category, facing Westfield at 7:30 p.m. Both teams have exhibited dominating performances throughout the playoffs, with Crown Point winning all three games by at least two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Brownsburg, fresh off a dramatic comeback victory over Ben Davis, will challenge Center Grove, who, despite a modest 5-4 regular season, has consistently reached the semi-state for seven consecutive years.

In the 5A bracket, Decatur Central will clash with Bloomington South at 7 p.m. in a rematch of last year’s semi-state game, where Decatur emerged victorious. The winner will proceed to face either Merrillville or Warsaw in the finals.

Class 4A sees Martinsville, riding high with their first regional championship win since 1996, take on an undefeated New Palestine. The winner will face Mishawaka or East Noble in the championship.

Central Indiana won’t see any representation in 3A, with matchups featuring Garrett versus Fort Wayne Luers and Batesville against Heritage Hills.

In Class 2A, Lutheran continues their dominance as they host Linton, both teams boasting impressive playoff runs. Lastly, in Class 1A, South Putnam, riding a nine-game winning streak, will face Providence.

Additionally, WISH-TV will present highlights from all six games starting at 11:08 p.m. on ‘The Zone,’ where the winner of the 2024 The Zone Banner championship for best student section will also be announced, featuring finalists Brownsburg and Fishers.
