Press Release: Baby Found Safe After Vehicle Theft in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Authorities in Indianapolis have confirmed that a 6-month-old baby boy, Eliam Santiago Felipe, was found safe following the theft of a vehicle containing him. The incident occurred Wednesday when the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) received a report of a black 2014 Chevrolet Equinox SUV stolen with Eliam inside.

The vehicle was taken from the 8000 block of Egret Lane, near the intersection of 79th Street and Ditch Road, around 6:50 p.m. Initial social media alerts were disseminated, urging the public to be on the lookout for the vehicle, which bears license plate number 394 CIG. A notable identifier for the SUV is a white sticker on the rear, indicating its affiliation with North Central High School.

Shortly after the alert was issued, an update was provided at 8:57 p.m. confirming that both Eliam and the stolen vehicle had been located safely. The successful recovery of the infant and the vehicle highlights the swift response of law enforcement and the cooperation of the community in such distressing situations.

The IMPD is relieved to report that there were no injuries to the child and commends the public for their vigilance during the unfolding events. Further investigations are ongoing to apprehend those involved in the vehicle theft.

This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of vehicle safety and attentiveness, particularly when children are involved. For ongoing information, individuals are encouraged to follow the IMPD on social media platforms.
