READI funds to assist in launching new girls sports complex in Northwest Indiana.

Indiana girls to benefit from new $38.8 million sports complex at Fair Oaks Farms in Newton County. The Marvella facilities will accommodate 16 courts and fields, attracting athletes nationwide. The development is part of a three-phase project, with plans for a health and wellness center, museum, championship arena, and outdoor fields. Funding from public and private sources, including tax credits from the Indiana Economic Development Corp., is making the project possible. The Marvella Foundation, led by incoming chair Allison Barber, aims to empower female athletes through sports and leadership programs. Barber, a former president and COO of the Indiana Fever, is committed to creating a space where girls can thrive and develop their potential. Partnerships with organizations like the Jasper Newton Foundation and Billie Jean King Enterprises will provide scholarships and programming for low-income athletes. The project is expected to be completed by spring 2026 and will contribute to the growth of women’s sports in Indiana. Governor Eric Holcomb expressed support for the initiative, highlighting the importance of continuing to invest in the state’s sports ecosystem. The project is a tribute to the legacy of Title IX and a commitment to creating opportunities for girls in sports.
