Republican Jim Banks has won the U.S. Senate race in Indiana, defeating Democratic nominee Valerie McCray with 62.6% of the vote. Banks, who has been endorsed by Donald Trump, has been representing Indiana’s 3rd congressional district since 2017. McCray, a clinical psychologist and the first Black woman in Indiana to become a major party’s nominee for U.S. Senate, ran a strong campaign. Andrew Horning ran as a libertarian candidate in the election. This race was closely watched and deemed historic due to McCray’s groundbreaking candidacy.
