Major Meth Trafficking Conspiracy Dismantled in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS – November 20, 2024 – The U.S. Department of Justice has announced the successful takedown of a significant meth trafficking operation in Indianapolis, resulting in federal charges against 11 individuals. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Indiana reported that these individuals were indicted for conspiring to distribute over 500 grams of methamphetamine in various locations, including gas stations and motels throughout the city.
In a coordinated effort involving 16 law enforcement agencies, authorities executed 22 arrest and search warrants across 11 locations in Central Indiana. This operation led to the arrest of 10 of the accused, with Joseph A. Grubb still at large. During the enforcement action, officers seized eight firearms alongside quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, and marijuana.
The individuals charged include leaders and several distributors, with James L. Tyus Jr. identified as the operation’s principal figure, reportedly receiving supplies from James M. Sublett Jr. The remaining defendants acted as dealers within the conspiracy.
U.S. Attorney Zachary A. Myers emphasized the commitment to addressing the threat posed by dangerous drugs like methamphetamine and fentanyl. “Getting deadly drugs off our streets is a top priority for our office,” he stated. If convicted, each defendant faces a sentence of up to life in federal prison.
This crackdown highlights the ongoing dedication of law enforcement to combat drug trafficking and protect communities in Indiana. Further investigations are expected as authorities continue to pursue individuals involved in the drug trade.
