Warm Weekend Ahead but Chilly Holiday Forecast for Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A reprieve from chilly weather is on the horizon, as temperatures are set to warm up for the weekend. Early Friday morning, residents can expect cloudy skies and cold temperatures lingering in the low to mid-30s, with a chance of light drizzle throughout the day. High temperatures will only reach the low to mid-40s, remaining below average for this time of year.
As the evening progresses, the cloudy conditions will persist, with nighttime lows dropping to the mid-30s. Saturday will begin with similar cloud cover but is expected to gradually clear by the afternoon, leading to slightly warmer temperatures that will peak in the mid-40s.
Sunday promises a significant warm-up, with a mix of sun and clouds and strong southwesterly winds pushing temperatures up to the mid to upper 50s, providing a pleasant end to the weekend.
Looking ahead to Monday, a cold front is anticipated, bringing increased cloud cover and mild temperatures before triggering scattered showers by the afternoon. Rainfall amounts are expected to be light, under a quarter of an inch, with temperatures dropping following the front’s passage.
As we approach the holiday week, a more uncertain forecast emerges, with indications of increased weather activity across the Midwest that could bring rounds of precipitation. Chilly air is projected to settle in starting Tuesday, resulting in daytime highs struggling to reach the 30s just in time for the busy travel day on Wednesday and Thanksgiving Day.
Long-term forecasts suggest the onset of a colder than normal pattern as we head into December, indicating that residents should prepare for a significant drop in temperatures following the holiday weekend.
