Fishers Event Center Welcomes First Guests with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
FISHERS, Ind. — The Fishers Event Center celebrated its grand opening on Friday, marking a significant milestone for the city and its entertainment landscape. After years of planning and development, city officials and local leaders gathered for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, eagerly anticipating the venue’s inaugural performance by American folk band Turnpike Troubadours at 7 p.m.
Marketing Director Anne Clendenin expressed her excitement, stating, “Words cannot express how excited we are for today. This is a dream come true, and we’re ready to welcome our first guests.” The center boasts a capacity of 7,500 and aims to provide a diverse array of entertainment, including comedy shows, concerts, and various sporting events. In its inaugural year, the venue has already scheduled 125 events, featuring half dedicated to sports.
The Fishers Event Center will serve as the new home for the Indy Fuel hockey team, which relocated from the Indiana State Fairgrounds, as well as host new teams such as the Indy Ignite of the Professional Volleyball Federation and the Fishers Freight of the Indoor Football League. General Manager Mitch List emphasized the venue’s focus on diversity in programming, aiming to create an economic uplift for local restaurants and retailers.
Furthermore, the center engages the community with events beyond professional sports. High school teams and special events like graduations will also have a place. List noted, “It’s really about community engagement. We want to cater to different interests and provide events that truly resonate with the community.”
With 17 concession stands offering locally sourced food and a commitment to sustainability through cashless transactions and a clear bag policy, the Fishers Event Center is poised to be a valuable community asset. Doors for the first performance opened at 6 p.m., inviting patrons to experience the new venue.
