GREENFIELD-CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL UNVEILS NEW PERFORMING ARTS CENTER
GREENFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – Greenfield-Central High School celebrated the grand opening of its state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center, a $20 million investment poised to enhance both student and community arts initiatives. The venue, debuting open house today from 5 to 9 p.m., is officially accessible for public tours.
Auditorium director and drama teacher Jeffery Dalstrom expressed enthusiasm about the new facility, emphasizing the modern technology incorporated into the space. "Our kids came in and saw everything and just started to cry; I told them, ‘You deserve this, you earned it,’" Dalstrom said, reflecting on students’ emotional responses to their new venue.
The inaugural performance is scheduled for December 7, featuring a festive Christmas show from 4 to 7 p.m. Dalstrom highlighted the center’s role not only in enhancing the school’s drama program but also in serving as a community hub, ensuring that opportunities for professional performances will prioritize student benefits.
"It’s going to be student-focused. My first question in bringing anything professional is, ‘how are the students going to benefit from this?’" he explained.
Located at 810 N. Broadway St., the new Performing Arts Center is more than just a facility; it aims to cultivate an appreciation for the arts among students and local residents alike. With a commitment to bridging student engagement and community involvement, the center is set to foster a vibrant arts culture in Greenfield.
