Mother from Georgia sentenced to life for murdering her son Quinton Simon, whose body was discovered in a landfill

Leilani Simon, a Georgia woman, was sentenced to life in prison for the killing of her 20-month-old son, Quinton Simon, whose remains were found in a landfill. She was convicted of murder last month and sentenced in a Chatham County court to life with the possibility of parole. The judge noted that Quinton’s death had a significant impact on the community. Simon reported her son missing in 2022, but authorities soon suspected foul play and identified her as the prime suspect. Quinton’s body was found in a landfill five weeks after he was reported missing. Simon was arrested and indicted on murder charges the following month. The jury convicted her of malice murder, felony murder, concealing the death of another, and other charges related to false reports and statements. In addition to life in prison, Simon was also sentenced to an additional 10 years. During the sentencing, she stood and nodded in acknowledgment, but did not speak. The judge expressed a hope for peace as the hearing concluded.
