Skulls discovered on New Mexico property not linked to disappearance of woman

Skulls found on a New Mexico property were determined to have been obtained online and are not related to a missing woman from 2019. The Lea County Sheriff’s Office initially suspected a connection between the remains and Angela McManes, who went missing in 2019, but later concluded that there was no link beyond the proximity of her home to the property where the skulls were found. Further investigation revealed that the skulls had ornamental pieces or carvings from outside the United States, and the medical examiner confirmed that the remains had no medical or legal significance. As a result, the remains are set to be cremated. The initial discovery of the skulls came after a man who made alarming statements and discarded objects from a vehicle was traced to a property in Jal, New Mexico. The sheriff’s office clarified that the remains were not connected to any criminal activity and were just decorative items obtained online. The case highlights the importance of thorough investigations and multiple sources of information to avoid jumping to conclusions.
