Butler Dominates Merrimack in 78-39 Victory
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — In a commanding performance, Butler University showcased their dominance on the court, defeating Merrimack College 78-39 on Friday night. Pierre Brooks led the Bulldogs with an impressive 23 points, complemented by 12 rebounds, marking another strong showing for the forward in this season.
The Bulldogs (4-1) took control of the game early, leading 37-31 at halftime. Brooks was pivotal during the first half, contributing 15 points to help maintain Butler’s advantage. As the second half unfolded, Butler’s intensity escalated, highlighted by a staggering 28-2 scoring run that propelled them to a commanding 65-33 lead.
Andre Screen also had a notable evening, scoring 12 points on an efficient 5 of 6 shooting while adding nine rebounds. Patrick McCaffery chipped in with 11 points, hitting 3 of 8 from the field, including 2 of 5 from beyond the arc, along with three successful free throws.
On the other side, Adam Clark led the Warriors (1-4) with eight points and contributed four assists, but their efforts fell short against the relentless Bulldogs defense.
