Purdue falls to Michigan State 24-17, Boilermakers now 1-10 – Latest updates on Indianapolis News, Indiana Weather, and Indiana Traffic

Michigan State defeated Purdue 24-17 in a close game on Friday night in East Lansing. Aidan Chiles threw for two touchdowns in the first half, helping the Spartans build a three-touchdown lead. Chiles expressed the importance of the win as Michigan State is now one game away from being eligible for a bowl game under first-year coach Jonathan Smith.

Purdue, on the other hand, has struggled this season, losing 10 straight games. The pressure is on head coach Ryan Walters to avoid matching a school record with an 11th loss. Despite a strong effort in the second half, Purdue was unable to close the gap and secure a win against the Spartans.

Michigan State’s defense came up big in the fourth quarter, with linebacker Jordan Turner intercepting a pass to seal the victory. Smith’s team has exceeded expectations this season and a win in the upcoming final game against Rutgers would secure a spot in the postseason.

Looking forward, Purdue will face Indiana on the road as heavy underdogs to conclude their season. Michigan State will host Rutgers, needing a win to secure a bowl game in Smith’s first season as head coach.
