Anderson police officer Joshua Senseney, who worked at Highland Middle School, is facing criminal charges for sending inappropriate text messages to three 14-year-old students. The texts contained sexual language, which was brought to the attention of the police by a concerned parent. Senseney turned himself in and was released on bond the same day.
The Anderson Police Department began investigating Senseney in June and placed him on administrative leave in July. The case was then turned over to the Indiana State Police, leading to charges being filed by the prosecutor on Monday. Senseney was charged with three felony counts of child solicitation and one felony count of official misconduct.
Senseney’s attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Anderson police have stated that his case will be presented to the Safety Board for review and potential disciplinary action, including termination. Officers in Indiana are entitled to a hearing before the safety board if requested.
The ongoing situation will be addressed at the next Anderson Board of Public Safety meeting. Senseney’s arrest warrant is still active, and details about his bond or court hearing date are not yet available.
