Indianapolis man killed in head-on collision with semi in Indiana – Indianapolis News and Weather Update

Joseph L. Arthur, a 47-year-old man from Indianapolis, tragically lost his life in a head-on collision with a semitractor-trailer in southeastern Decatur County on Wednesday morning. The crash occurred on U.S. 421 near County Road 700 East, a rural area just northwest of the Decatur County border with Ripley County. Arthur was driving a 2010 Pontiac southbound on U.S. 421 when he lost control, crossed the centerline, and collided with a northbound 2014 Freightliner semi driven by Michael S. Olsen from Charlotte, Michigan. The semi burst into flames after the crash, but Olsen managed to escape with minor injuries. Investigators suspect that speed may have played a role in the fatal collision. The crash reconstructionists were still working on the case on Wednesday night. The incident resulted in the closure of U.S. 421 in both directions for approximately five hours for investigation and cleanup. The community is mourning the loss of Arthur and sending prayers to his family during this difficult time.
