Hamilton County in Indiana has been ranked as the top county in the United States for math ability according to a study conducted by Excel Champs. The study analyzed numeracy scores from the National Center for Education Statistics, which measure the ability to access, use, interpret and communicate mathematical information in adult life. Hamilton County’s average numeracy score of 285.7 was higher than any other county in the country. However, Indiana as a whole falls below the national average with a numeracy score of 251.5.
The top five counties for numeracy scores in the country include Hamilton County, Los Alamos County in New Mexico, Douglas County in Colorado, Delaware County in Ohio, and Williamson County in Tennessee. On the other hand, the top five states with the highest average numeracy scores are New Hampshire, Minnesota, Vermont, North Dakota, and Alaska.
